I started in the fire service at the beginning of 2020. During my rookie year I was asked to learn a tremendous amount of information. From the right gear to bring to calls, interacting with patients, building construction and the list goes on and on. The one thing I was not prepared for was how to cook for a bunch of veteran firefighters. Sometimes there are 4 of us and sometimes there were 12. I had to learn how to keep these guys fed and quick. That became the inspiration for Chow’s Up.

I was lucky enough to have some life experience when joining the fire department and adapting to the challenges of the firehouse kitchen came naturally. However, for some, the prospect of feeding everyone with little or no experience is quite daunting. And as a rookie you want to leave a lasting “good” impression.
