ABOUT ME
Howdy, my name is COPE!
Chow’s Up was born out of necessity.
When time is short and people are hungry, meals still have to happen. In the firehouse, there’s no room for guesswork—crews need food that’s reliable, filling, and ready to come together after long, unpredictable days.
That same challenge exists at home for parents, shift workers, and anyone responsible for feeding a family night after night.
Chow’s Up exists to make that part of life easier.
These recipes were created to give people—especially those just starting out—the confidence and tools to succeed in the kitchen without stress.
During rookie year at the firehouse, there’s already plenty to worry about. What to cook shouldn’t be one of them.
The same goes for busy households juggling work, school, practices, and everything in between.
The recipes you’ll find here are practical, straightforward, and tested in real-life conditions.
They’re designed to feed a crowd, stretch ingredients, and deliver meals you can count on—whether you’re cooking for a firehouse, a large family, or a table full of hungry kids at the end of a long day.
I’m a career firefighter living in Overland Park, Kansas, and I’ve spent years cooking both at the station and at home with my family. Chow’s Up reflects what I know works: simple ingredients, clear steps, and food that brings people together.
Let me handle the meals—so you can focus on everything else.
Tough Critics
I began my fire service career at the start of 2020. Like every rookie, I was expected to learn an overwhelming amount in a short time—what gear to bring to calls, how to interact with patients, building construction, department operations, and more. The learning never stopped.
What I wasn’t prepared for was the kitchen.
At the firehouse, meals matter. Some days there were four of us at the table, other days twelve. Either way, everyone expected to be fed—and fed well—often with limited time and whatever ingredients were on hand.
I had to learn quickly how to cook meals that were fast, filling, and dependable. That challenge became the spark behind Chow’s Up.
I was fortunate to have some life experience before joining the fire department, which helped me adapt to the realities of cooking in the firehouse.
For many rookies, though, the idea of feeding a full crew with little or no kitchen experience can feel intimidating. And as a new firefighter, you want to make a good, lasting impression. One of the best ways to do that is through food.
Chow’s Up was created with both rookies and seasoned firefighters in mind. The meals here are practical, scalable, and built to perform under pressure—recipes that work just as well in a busy firehouse as they do in a home kitchen.
Welcome to Chow’s Up. Fire-tested, firehouse-approved meals designed to impress.
